“New Year” In October

So a lot of you have heard that I no longer work at Starbucks.   My last day was Friday, October 1, 2010.  I worked there for 3 years and 1 month.  What an experience. Amazing and challenging.  I will tell stories, share thoughts and write about some of the wonderful times and also some frustrating ones.  But all of that in due time.

I call this post a “New Year” in October because I do feel as if this is a new beginning, a fresh start, a time to make (and keep) resolutions.  My schedule will be different.  My energy and time will shift focus.  I really look forward to this new chapter.  One goal, as you might have guessed, is to consistently blog.  At least once a week.

I think one of the main reasons I want to blog is so that my friends, family and church can get a glimpse at what is going on inside of my head.  I can share what I am experiencing, wrestling with, and reading.  I can open up my journey with Jesus to others and invite them along.  It will be good for me to give a part of my self away like this.  As much as I think that I will like blogging more often, I will have to be disciplined to do it.  I see that it could be one of the first things that goes out the window if I am too busy.  But I think it is important for my church, Cornerstone, so get a peek at what is in my heart, on my mind, in my soul and what makes me tick.

The nice thing about blogging is that it is here for others to look at if they want.  No pressure. No obligation.

Here is me.  Welcome to my “New Year.”

Starting anew, isn’t it grand. I love we get to start anew at any given moment. What an opportunity we all have to recreate a time to strive to do it all a little better in this moment, oops, it’s gone, this moment, oops, it’s gone, this moment… Peace be da journey, mon!

    Opportunity:
    1. An occasion
    2. An opening
    3. A chance
    4. Or a break

Which one of these favorable opportunities best fit the welcoming of your new year planning or expectations? The timing could not be better, for this is the time when the congregation will celebrate (and we are doing that) more the new beginning, an opening if you will, a chance for chatting, and learning or gleaning from your vast bank of spiritual knowledge. Happy New Year and a new beginning!

      Al,
Thanks for the comment and the nudge to think even deeper about this new opportunity. I certainly see it as more than an occasion, a one-time event or activity. I see it as an opening. New vistas will open up and I feel like almost like it is a new birth. I am glad you will be with me on the journey.

While you were at Starbucks the Lord used you quite well. Our family grew bigger while you were there. So He used you two-fold. Now you can help us to restructure.

Steve, thanks for being a part of the family and team and one who will be a fundamental pillar in the ‘restructuring’ and journey as we move forward.
